Underground Lanian Beast

This is a creature from a dream a couple of months ago. It would position itself underground; shooting ganglia from it’s back onto the surface that would flatten out like a mushroom. The ganglia could ‘see’ the area around itself and guide prey towards the mouth with sparks of light. It would then snap out of the ground and snag whatever was around it. It has retractable beak like fangs at the front of it's mouth for pinching and dragging things under.
The tail can split open and reveal two hard clipper like plates that can cut through roots as it usually burrows tail first into the ground.
It has a shell around it’s chest that it can use to tuck it’s arms into.
It possessed a high intelligence and could communicate feelings towards other creatures.
In ‘Laynair’; the universe I dream about, there are apparently stories about gigantic versions of this creature swallowing whole cities.

I tossed some really quick colors on this sketch. I love the color scheme but it killed some of my details IDK WHATEVER CAN'T HAVE EVERYTHING.
